Movement is one of the first achievements in the child’s life, since it represents a change in the way they face the world. Physical skills have important repercussions for cognitive, emotional, and social development.
For this reason, this course focuses on the role of the adult as responsible for an adequate and safe space where the child can function with tranquility and freedom, promoting this autonomy naturally.

“The true purpose of the movement is not to promote better breathing or nutrition, but to serve all life and the universal and spiritual economy of the world,” says Dr. Montessori in the book The Absorbing Mind.
In the first year of life, the child goes from being almost immobile to starting to walk and being able to reach and hold different objects. This development of balance and hand is based on physical maturation and a special need to move that, when satisfied, brings intellectual, emotional and social benefits.
Through the development of coordinated movement, the child also conquers physical autonomy, one of the main aspects that Montessori pedagogy is promoted in the first stage of development. The primary role of the adult is to prepare a safe environment, with adequate spaces and furniture so that his intervention is limited and the child can move freely.
“If we consider physical life on the one hand and mental life on the other, we break the cycle of relationships and man’s actions are separated from the brain,” writes Dr. Montessori in the same text.
