At IMI, we have designed these 100% online 15-day courses that introduce education professionals and families to the pedagogical model created by Dr. María Montessori at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition, it allows parents an approach to the most current research on parenting and focuses their attention on the development of their needs and potential.

These formations allow us to learn about Montessori pedagogy and how to introduce it into daily home activities, contributing to the optimal development of its autonomy.

Montessori at home are a set of four online trainings of 15 days each, on Montessori Pedagogy that allows this pedagogical model to be brought closer to families and to all people interested in this educational method.

With a total of 4 formations, independent but related to each other, Montessori at home offers the necessary tools to contribute to the physical, intellectual and moral autonomy of boys and girls for the stage of 0 to 3 years, through activities that reinforce cognitive development and sensory.

These courses also aim to convey the importance of knowing how to create a suitable and stimulating environment at home that responds to the needs and potential of children.

Sensory development constitutes the channel through which children receive information from their environment (colors, shapes, smells, tastes, sounds) and from their own body (feeling of hunger, cold, body positions in space, etc.) From this information, children will be able to give responses adapted to the conditions of the environment or environment, that is, they will carry out intelligent actions.

Sensory capacities are, therefore, very important since they become the first functions that will be developed in children and the basis for subsequent perceptual and cognitive development, that is, in intellectual maturation.

This training allows us to know what kind of activities to do in order to promote the sensorial and cognitive development of children. Everyday life offers many possibilities for stimulating your intelligence and for fixing habits. In addition, the necessary tools are provided for preparing the ideal environment that affects children’s safety, confidence and motivation.

The Montessori approach

One of the pillars of the Montessori view regarding development in the 0-3 age stage is confidence in the innate potential of children. As adults, we influence their development by repeating ways of doing without prior reflection.

  • What guidelines can we follow to promote their autonomy?
  • When to intervene and how to act?

Favoring their physical autonomy during the first years of life will contribute to the intellectual autonomy that will develop in their childhood and will strengthen their moral autonomy in youth. The activities of daily life during this stage will allow the development of your intelligence.

  • Should we buy Montessori materials or can we use everyday objects?
  • What objects should be present in your environment?

The acquisition of autonomous movements and full motor development is benefited by the design of the environment together with appropriate clothing. Our customs must contribute to creating a rich and stimulating literacy environment for language development.

  • How do we promote reading?
  • What criteria should we follow?
  • How do we enrich your orality?

Cognitive development

During this stage, a first approach to abstract concepts is made through free exploration. As parents, we can enhance this knowledge by designing different situations in the everyday environment.

The development of intelligence

Freedom of movement and experimentation allows cognitive development by promoting both the intellect and the perception of the body. Knowing what role we should adopt as adults, what type of materials and activities to propose at home will allow the optimal development of both our children’s intelligence and sense of sight.

The sense of sight

Knowing how the sense of sight evolves during the first years of life helps parents to correctly stimulate vision through appropriate activities and materials.

Suggestions for cognitive development

We will offer parents the necessary tools in terms of materials and objects in everyday life in order to properly stimulate the senses. In addition, it will be indicated how the environments in which these elements should be located should be to contribute to the cognitive development of children.

Activity design

This last phase of the training will allow us to know what type of games and activities to propose, both at home and abroad, that take into account the sensory and cognitive development of children so that they experiment with textures, smells, flavors and materials.
