PRESENTATION

Master’s degree in Montessori Education Preschool specialisation, taught by the International Montessori Institute (IMI) in collaboration with the University of Barcelona (UB).

Dr Maria Montessori brought up with her method a pedagogical proposal endorsed by the scientific community and recognised worldwide. The objective of this pedagogy is to educate every human being as unique people through training to act with freedom, intelligence and dignity.

Montessori education is a pedagogical approach of wide recognition at an international level, Dr Maria Montessori developed during the first half of the twentieth century an educational method based on the scientific observation of the child: its various stages of development throughout life, its potential, its interests and its capabilities.

Current scientific research goes on validating this educational method every day as a set of elements that help our children and students in their holistic development of mind, body and emotions.

This Master’s degree, though a classical Montessorian perspective, offers comprehensive training, providing adequate scientific, philosophical and methodological foundations. Training the student to exercise as a Montessori Guide in stages 0-3 and 3-6 years, with the aim of contributing, with a global pedagogical proposal, to the quality of education of children.

These activities allow a holistic development of the mind, body and emotions. Motor coordination, development of autonomy, adaptation to the environment and concentration capabilities that lay the foundations for all subsequent learning. Future teachers learn to prepare and present them in exquisite detail.

The scientific design of sensory materials makes them real development aids. Students explore them in detail so they can extract their full potential from them.
  • Language: language is the backbone of life and community learning.
  • Mathematics: Dr Montessori collects the concept of the “mathematical mind” of Blaise Pascal and transforms it into a didactic reality. Concrete materials that accompany the natural process of the mind towards mathematical abstraction. All the activities and necessary to offer a solid mathematical basis to children.
  • Cultural areas: arouse children’s admiration for the natural and cultural world that surrounds them. Significant experiences as the basis of scientific discovery. Develop deep respect for all humanity and nature. History, geography, biology, art and music as an interrelated whole.
